SEA TURTLES

Today after church I was walking around the ocean shore with friends and their kids; we found two sea turtles!!! There was also a whale really far out close to the horizon that we saw breach a couple times and blow water. Too far to take a picture of the whale but still a cool experience. Yep, pretty amazing blessing from the Lord today :)

 Prayer requests

1. Praise that I have been healthy the past two months; that good health would continue
2. That I would remain focused in the class/training the next 4 weeks even as we start thinking more about outreach.
3. Continue to be wiling to try to push into hard uncomfortable things and break strongholds
4. Baptism!- I believe the Lord is asking me to be baptized during my DTS. Continue affirmation peace about this and where and when it happens.
5. That I would be like Joshua & Caleb and see the direction which God is leading me in life as exceedingly good even if there appears to be giants (Numbers 14)
6. Outreach team: that God would give us His heart for the Cambodian people, that we would continue to apply the tools in our own lives that we learned in training, continue building healthy friendships among all team members, protections over the 3 families (parents and kids), healing for one of the team members who has struggled with poor health for many years, continued affirmation that this is God's leading, boldness and wisdom to use the gifts/talents God has given each one of us, trust that where we are weak He is strong

LAS TORTUGAS MARINAS

Hoy, después de la iglesia, caminaba por la orilla del océano con amigos y sus hijos; encontramos dos tortugas marinas!!! También había una ballena muy lejos cerca del horizonte que vimos brecha un par de veces y soplar agua. Demasiado lejos para tomar una foto de la ballena, pero todavía una experiencia fresca. Sí, una bendición bastante asombrosa del Señor hoy

Peticiones de oración
1. Alabado que he estado sano los últimos dos meses; que la buena salud continuaría 
2. Que permanecería enfocado en la clase/entrenamiento las próximas 4 semanas, incluso cuando empezamos a pensar más acerca de la cruzada. 3. Seguir siendo marchando para tratar de empujar en las cosas difíciles y duras romper fortalezas
5. Que yo sería como Josué y Caleb y ver la dirección que Dios me está llevando en la vida como muy bueno, incluso si parece ser gigantes (Números 14)

4.¡Bautismo!-creo que el Señor me está pidiendo que me bautice durante mi DTS. Continúe afirmando la paz sobre esto y dónde y cuándo sucede. 
6.Equipo de cruzada: que Dios nos daría su corazón por el pueblo camboyano, que continuaría aplicando las herramientas en nuestras propias vidas que aprendimos en las meses de entrenamiento, continuamos construyendo amistades saludables entre todos los miembros del equipo, protecciones sobre las 3 familias (padres y niños), curación para uno de los miembros del equipo que ha luchado con mala salud durante muchos años , la afirmación continua de que esta es la principal, la audacia y la sabiduría de Dios para usar los dones/talentos que Dios nos ha dado a cada uno de nosotros, confía en que donde somos débiles, él es fuerte

Week 7- Spiritual Warfare and Deliverance

Danny Lehmann was our speaker for most of the week speaking on spiritual warfare; on Friday we watched a recording of Kris Vallaotton talking about deliverance. Below are somethings that stood out from Danny Lehmann's teachings.

Temptation is not a sin; acting on the temptation is sin. Use previously memorize scripture to fight temptation (this is a principle of warfare modeled by Jesus when tempted in the desert)

Spiritual Warfare Weapons: Prayer, prayer with prayer, intercession, petition, supplication, worship, praise, praying the word of God.

We are significant in the spiritual battle and one way we can fight is by living out the truth of God's goodness even when circumstances don't look/feel that way.

Don't allow unforgiveness to remain in your life, it is a foothold for the enemy and can easily become an open door for a stronghold (deeply rooted false mindset)

• Living with unforgiveness is like drinking poison and hoping someone else will die

***Everything is built on your devotional life***

5 Bible Disciplines (if you're looking for a good way to begin try Life Journal; my church uses this tool and it is great)

• Bible reading 
• Bible study
• Bible meditation
• Bible memorization
• Bible meditation
• Bible listening

Things to consider when making decisions with discernment (starting with the MOST important thing):

1. Bible (does it agree with Scripture)

2.Word of the Lord (Holy Spirit teaching you)

3. Counsel of other believers

4. Circumstances

5. Desires of your own heart (God is a loving father)

Semana 7-Guerra espiritual y liberación
Danny Lehmann fue nuestro orador durante la mayor parte de la semana hablando sobre la guerra espiritual; el viernes vimos una grabación de Kris Vallaotton hablando de liberación. A continuación hay algo que destacaba de las enseñanzas de Danny Lehmann.

God Speaks-Prayer/Art Tool

God Speaks-Prayer/Art Tool

On Wednesday, February 13 in my Compassion Track we learned about two prayer art tools that we could use with kids on outreach; we learned about one tool by our teacher facilitating us doing it and the other by facilitating each other doing it. 

Using either tool here are some first steps:

      1. Start by talking to the child and asking them if they know who God is and if they can describe Him. If the child doesn’t know help lay a foundation of truth about who God is: kind, loving, always with you, etc.

      2. Ask the child if they would like to draw a picture with you and if they say yes ask them if they would be willing to pray with you.

      3.Here is a suggested prayer for them to repeat after you: "Clean my heart and clean my mind Jesus; open the eyes of my heart to know you and lead me into truth. In Jesus Name Amen"

Scripture/Art Tool

Pick a passage in scripture and read it out loud. Before reading, give the child some art supplies and ask them to draw what they hear when you read the scripture.

When you’re done reading invite the child to tell you about the picture and ask if they heard God speak anything to them.  Write whatever they heard God say on their picture; ask God if there are any words/scripture that He has for you to share with the child, and write what He says on their picture.

My instructor read out loud to us Revelation 4:1-6a and gave us water color paints to use. Here is the picture I drew with my fingers. 

I wasn’t really sure what I was doing but could hear God telling me it didn’t matter He was going to guide me in what to draw. After finishing God said "Jesus is your king; you are a trumpet speaking what He has given you." 

Also He said: "I will give you a new song and I will give you a new heart."  With this phrase he direct me to Psalm 40.

Safe Place/Art Tool

With this tool do steps 1-3 above and then begin by asking the child to close their eyes and imagine a safe place. Then give them paper and pens/pencils/crayons and invite them to draw the picture they had just imagined. When they finish ask them to talk about where their safe place is and where they are in the picture. Ask them to imagine where Jesus is in the picture; ask them what He is doing, what His face looks like and if He is speaking something to them. Ask God if He has anything for you to share with them, maybe God gives you a picture or vision for them, maybe he gives you words or scripture. Write what God gives you on their picture or draw for them the picture or vision God gives you for them. 

I had never met the girl I did this activity with so it was really quite awesome to see how God used her to speak into my life when I was doing the drawing and also to try listening to God for something to share with her as I facilitated her drawing. It was an amazing experience and I am excited to try it with kids on outreach.

Dios Habla-Herramienta de oración/arte 
El miércoles, 13 de febrero en mi Track de Compasión aprendimos acerca de dos herramientas de oración/arte  que podíamos usar con los niños en la cruzada; aprendimos acerca de una herramienta de nuestro maestro facilitándonos haciéndolo y el otro facilitando mutuamente haciéndolo.

El uso de cualquiera de las herramientas aquí son algunos primeros pasos:
1. Empiece por hablar con el niño y preguntarles si saben quién es Dios y si pueden describirlo. Si el niño no sabe, ayudar a sentar una base de la verdad sobre quién es Dios: bondadoso, cariñoso, siempre con usted, etc.
2.Pregunte al niño si les gustaría dibujar una foto con usted y si dicen que sí les pregunte si estarían dispuestos a orar con usted.
3.Aquí está una oración sugerida para que repitan después de usted: "limpie mi corazón y limpie mi mente Jesús; abrid los ojos de mi corazón para conoceros y conducirme a la verdad. En el nombre de Jesús Amen"

Herramienta de escritura/arte 
Haga los pasos 1-.3 Escoge un pasaje en las escrituras y leerlo en voz alta. Antes de leer, dele a el niño algunas fuentes de arte y pídales que dibujen lo que escuchen cuando lean las escrituras.

Cuando termine de leer, invite al niño a contarle acerca de la imagen y a preguntar si oyeron a Dios hablar algo a él. Escriba lo que haya oído decir a Dios en su foto; pregunte a Dios si hay alguna palabra/escritura que él tenga para que usted comparta con el niño, y escriba lo que él dice en su imagen. 

Mi instructor leyó en voz alta Apocalipsis 4:1-6a y nos dio pinturas de color de agua para usar. Aquí está la foto que dibujé con mis dedos.

No estaba muy seguro de lo que estaba haciendo, pero podía oír a Dios diciéndome que no importaba, él iba a guiarme en lo que dibujar. Después de terminar Dios dijo: "Jesús es tu rey; eres una trompeta hablando lo que él te ha dado.

También dijo: "te daré una nueva canción y te daré un nuevo corazón". Con esta frase me dirige al Salmo 40.

Herramienta de lugar seguro/arte
Con esta herramienta haga los pasos 1-3 arriba y luego comience pidiendo al niño que cierre los ojos e imagine un lugar seguro. A continuación, darles papel y plumas/lápices/crayones e invitarlos a dibujar la imagen que acababa de imaginar. Cuando terminen pídale que hable sobre dónde está su lugar seguro y dónde está en la foto. Pídale que se imaginen dónde está Jesús en la imagen; pregúntale qué está haciendo Jesus, cómo se ve su rostro y si él les está hablando algo. Pregunte a Dios si él tiene algo para que usted comparta con el niño, tal vez Dios le da una imagen o una visión para él, tal vez él le da palabras o escrituras. Week 6- Freedom

Week 6-Freedom

So much of this Christian faith is growing in our understanding of who we are as children of God. 

(2 Corinthians 5:16-21) 

For week 6 our speaker was Sunawh Park; he is part of the core leadership of YWAM Kona and also serves on the core leadership for of the Fire and Fragrance DTS on campus. The first day was lecture style learning but the whole time was so Spirit led; while lecturing he would choose people to look right in the eyes as he spoke; he did this one time with me and everything he said was exactly what I needed to hear; there is no way he could have known that except with the Holy Spirit guiding. Also he took time at the end of the class to just listen to the Holy Spirit and speak prophetically into some of the students’ lives as God gave him words for individuals. The next two days were hands on exercises for us. We did an activity both days where we got into groups and the purpose was to address areas that are strongholds in our lives; one day we worked on getting rid of passivity and the next day we worked on the area of fear. The day on breaking fear was very powerful for me; fear is a stronghold that has existed in my personal life, generationally in my family, and also in the culture I grew up in.  Below are three picture of me during this exercise:

“Gold is ready when the maker can see his reflection in it…the Holy Spirit is the purifying fire that burns away in us anything not of Him so that in you He will see his perfect reflection”

When someone becomes a Christian they are immediately justified in Christ…sanctification is a process that continues over a lifetime in Christ as we “work out our salvation” (Philippians 2:12-13)

John 10:10- The thief comes only to steal kill and destroy (render useless). I (Jesus) have some that they may have life and have it to the full.

• Full/abundant life is not something we must wait for but something that Jesus wants us to begin to experience right now

Semana 6-Libertad
Gran parte de esta fe cristiana está creciendo en nuestra comprensión de quiénes somos como hijos de Dios. 
(2 Corintios 5:16-21)

Para la semana 6 nuestro orador fue Sunawh Park; él es parte del liderazgo central de YWAM Kona y también sirve en el liderazgo principal para el Fire and Frangrance DTS en el campus. El primer día era el aprender del estilo de la Conferencia pero todo el tiempo era tan alcohol conducido; mientras que la Conferencia que elegiría a la gente a mirar a la derecha en los ojos mientras hablaba; lo hizo una vez conmigo y todo lo que dijo era exactamente lo que necesitaba oír; no hay manera de que pudiera haber sabido que, excepto con el Espíritu Santo guiando. También tomó tiempo al final de la clase para escuchar al Espíritu Santo y hablar proféticamente en algunas de las vidas de los estudiantes como Dios le dio palabras para los individuos. Los siguientes dos días fueron ejercicios prácticos para nosotros. Hicimos una actividad ambos días donde llegamos a grupos y el propósito era abordar áreas que son fortalezas en nuestras vidas; un día trabajamos en deshacerse de la pasividad y al día siguiente trabajamos en el área del miedo. El día de romper el miedo fue muy poderoso para mí; el temor es una fortaleza que ha existido en mi vida personal, generacionalmente en mi familia, y también en la cultura en la que crecí. A continuación se muestran tres imágenes de mí durante este ejercicio.

"El oro está listo cuando el creador puede ver su reflejo en él... el Espíritu Santo es el fuego purificador que quema en nosotros nada que no sea de él, para que en ti él vea su perfecta reflexión "

• Willing heart to let God work in areas of my life where quite a bit more healing is needed
• Courage to step out in obedience; willingness to try and fail even when I am nervous
• More alone time in prayer/spending time alone with God just to enjoy being in His presence and ask Him what is on His heart (I feel like there is lots of time for prayer and worship corporately but I'm still struggling to find enough time just to be alone with Him)

Outreach Location-Battambang, Cambodia

Outreach Location

My Crossroads DTS was given 4 locations to pray about for outreach choices: Cambodia, South Africa, Germany, and a closed country. I was not sure at first where the Lord was calling me (I am still getting settled being in Hawaii and trying to listen for what the Lord wants to teach me here J) but eventually He started to make it very clear where He wanted me to do outreach and He has continued affirming it even now after teams have been organized.

I will be part of a team of 19 people going on outreach to Battambang, Cambodia. Among other things we will be: teaching English, helping with village ministry, serving small local churches, and working with kids.

Lugar de mi Cruzada
A mi Crossroads DTS se le dieron 4 lugares para orar por las opciones de cruzada: Camboya, Sudáfrica, Alemania y un país cerrado. No estaba seguro al principio donde el Señor me llamaba (todavía me estoy acomodando estando en Hawai y tratando de escuchar lo que el Señor quiere enseñarme aquí :) ), pero finalmente él comenzó a hacer muy claro donde él quería que yo hiciera alcance y él ha continuado afirmando incluso ahora después de que los equipos se han organizado.

Seré parte de un equipo de 19 personas que van de alcance a Battambang, Camboya. Entre otras cosas, estaremos: enseñando inglés, ayudando con el Ministerio de la aldea, sirviendo a pequeñas iglesias locales, y trabajando con niños.

Week 4 and 5

This week was Holy Spirit week. Our speaker was Amy Ward; here is a link to her website if you would like to see more detailed notes about what she taught us:

Some highlights for me were being reminded that:

·     The Holy Spirit doesn’t do ANYTHING out of alignment with the Father and the Son; also the Holy Spirit never speaks in a way that contradicts scripture. (Never separate Word and Spirit)

·     The Holy Spirit is a person. Holy Spirit acts in these roles in our lives: comforter, standby, advocate, intercessor, teacher, friend, guide, counselor, leader, helper, partner, strength.

How do you grow in friendship with the Holy Spirit? 

·     Ask questions and listen to what is on His heart!

9 Spiritual Gifts (3 see, 3 do, 3 speak)

Gifts are given not for the individual but for doing ministry; gifts have nothing to do with your identity but with what you are called to do.

·     Revelations Gifts (Eyes of God): Word of Knowledge, Word of Wisdom, Discerning of Spirits

·     Power Gifts (Hand of God): Faith, Healing, Miracles

·     Vocal Gifts (Mouth of God): Prophecy, Tongues, Interpretation

I think the Lord has been and is continuing to develop in me the three revelation gifts. If you’re reading this and know me well and have thoughts to share with me that would affirm this or direct me differently I would love to hear feedback! J

*** How we know we are doing well in our relationship with God is seen in the Fruit of the Spirit in our lives NOT in the gifts of the Spirit***

If someone gives you a word from God then bring it back to the Lord to weight and test it with Him, the Lord will direct you what to do with it.

·     Is the word confirmation of something the Lord has already spoken to you about?

·     Does the word bear witness with you Spirit?

·     If you aren’t sure if the word is from God and he doesn’t seem to be directing then put it on the “shelf” and wait

Being prayed over by the leaders two different days this week was also an interesting and powerful experience. 

Week 4

This week was about Identity and Relationship. The speaker was Carla Chud 

I REALLY enjoyed this week but am finding it hard to summarize what we learned/did.

Here are some highlights from class:

The primary battleground for the believer is in the mind (2 Corinthians 10:3-5)

The enemy comes when people are vulnerable and in a place of pain and speaks lies about their circumstances and who they are. People take on these lies eventually and internalize them. When similar circumstances happen again the lies are internalized more. Our interpretation of life experience most commonly shapes our bleifs about God, ourselves, and the world around us.

Transformation comes when we search our belief system

Don’t wall off you heart and keep disappointments from God; doing this will create a stronghold of lies

·     Invite the searching gaze of God into your heart (Psalm 139: 23-24)

Strength of identity comes from God confidence not self confidence

The very places that were used against us in our lives are the very places where God wants to use us to rebuild and restore.

Setting good boundaries:

·     Love does not suffer toxic behavior

·     Healthy relationships consider both people’s needs

·     Door to relationship almost always stays open but there may be boundaries for access to that relationship and those boundaries determine how intimate or superficial that relationship is

·     Love does not equal trust

    Semana 5

    Algunos aspectos destacados para mí fueron recordados que: 

· El Espíritu Santo no hace nada fuera de la alineación con el padre y el hijo; también el Espíritu Santo nunca habla de una manera que contradice las escrituras. (Nunca separe la palabra y el espíritu) 

· El Espíritu Santo es una persona. El Espíritu Santo actúa en estos papeles en nuestras vidas: consolador, espera, defensor, intercesor, maestro, amigo, guía, consejero, líder, ayudante, socio, fuerza.

¿Cómo crecen en amistad con el Espíritu Santo? 

¡ Haz preguntas y escucha lo que está en su corazón!

    

   9 dones espirituales (3 ver, 3 hacer, 3 hablar) 

Los regalos no se dan para el individuo sino para hacer el ministerio; los regalos no tienen nada que ver con tu identidad, sino con lo que estás llamado a hacer.

• Revelaciones dones (ojos de Dios): palabra de conocimiento, palabra de sabiduría, discernimiento de espíritus 
• Dones de poder (mano de Dios): fe, sanación, milagros 
• Dones vocales (boca de Dios): profecía, lenguas, interpretación

     

     Creo que el Señor ha sido y continúa desarrollando en mí los tres dones de revelación. Si estás leyendo esto y me conoces bien y tengo pensamientos para compartir conmigo que afirme esto o dirigirme diferente me encantaría escuchar comentarios!

    ***Cómo sabemos que estamos haciendo bien en nuestra relación con Dios se ve en el fruto del espíritu en nuestras vidas no en los dones del espíritu***

    Si alguien le da una palabra de Dios y luego la trae de vuelta al Señor para ponderarla y probarla con él, el Señor le dirigirá qué hacer con él.

¿Es la palabra confirmación de algo que el Señor ya le ha hablado? 

· ¿Testifica la palabra con tu espíritu? 

· Si usted no está seguro de si la palabra es de Dios y él no parece estar dirigiendo a continuación, ponerlo en el "estante" y esperar

 
Ser rezado por los líderes dos días durante la semana fue también una experiencia interesante y poderosa.

   Semana 4

   Esta semana se trataba de identidad y relación. El orador fue Carla Chud.

   REALMENTE disfruté esta semana, pero estoy encontrando difícil resumir lo que aprendimos/hizimos.

   Aquí hay algunos aspectos destacados de la clase: 

El campo de batalla principal para el creyente está en la mente (2 Corintios 10:3-5)
No te quites el corazón y mantengas decepciones de Dios; hacer esto creará un bastión de mentiras
Los mismos lugares que fueron utilizados contra nosotros en nuestras vidas son los mismos lugares donde Dios nos quiere utilizar para reconstruir y restaurar.
· El amor no sufre un comportamiento tóxico 
· Las relaciones saludables consideran las necesidades de ambos personas 
· La puerta a la relación casi siempre permanece abierta, pero puede haber límites para el acceso a esa relación y esos límites determinan cuán íntima o superficial es esa relación

     El enemigo viene cuando las personas son vulnerables y en un lugar de dolor y habla mentiras sobre sus circunstancias y quiénes son. La gente toma estas mentiras eventualmente y las interiorizan. Cuando las circunstancias similares suceden otra vez las mentiras se internalizan más. Nuestra interpretación de la experiencia de vida más comúnmente da forma a nuestros creencias acerca de Dios, nosotros mismos y el mundo que nos rodea.

     La transformación viene cuando buscamos nuestro sistema de creencias 
    
     Invita a la mirada de la búsqueda de Dios a su corazón (Salmo 139:23-24)

     La fuerza de la identidad viene de la confianza de Dios no confianza del uno mismo 

    Estableciendo buenos límites: 
    
     El amor no es igual a la confianza
